Anonymous asked: Are you a fan of fashion (high fashion, catwalks)? Or prefer alternative fashion?
I love the creativity behind fashion design, but am not a fan of the industry as such. Catwalks SERIOUSLY lack diversity, I find it quite uninspiring and off-putting to see. Efforts are being made to change that and that’s great, however I don’t feel like putting one plus size model, or a couple of models of colour in a show is sufficient AT ALL. I’ve NEVER heard a good reason as to why these discriminatory standards exist (especially in regard to body type / size). I think the criteria they apply to models makes an otherwise creative industry quite ugly. But, that’s just a fraction of my opinion. I could rant forever.
Alternative style is (theoretically, at least) more about expressing yourself and challenging / ignoring conventional notions of beauty, than looking attractive or following trends. That’s what drew me towards it, anyway.
